Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB):
The Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) is a government institute under the Ministry of Information. PIB was established on August 18, 1976 with a view to providing modern training and education to the journalists; conducting research; and publishing books, journals, manuals or booklets etc related to journalism, communication and media in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Press Institute is housed in a six storied situated at Circuit House Road in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It includes auditorium, seminar room, class room, newspaper archives, computer lab, library, cyber corner, microfilm unit, editing suite and offices. The institute’s another eight-storied building is constructing to provide further facilities.
Since its establishment, Press Institute of Bangladesh has been offering journalism training courses mainly for journalists, public relations personnel and information officers. PIB’s training courses designed specially on the reporting of sports, crime, economic, women and children issues, gender issues, energy, online reporting and so on. The Institute is also offering Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism (PGDJ) from the academic year 2002-2001.
The Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) has affiliation with International Institute for Journalism ( IIJ), Commonwealth Press Union (CPU), Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA), Asian Media Information and Communication Center (AMIC), Press Foundation of Asia (PFA), Thomson Foundation, and other relevant international and regional institutes.
